I act, write, improvise, and eat a lot of foods that are bad for me in Chicago. I'm originally from Crown Point, Indiana. I graduated from Ball State University and have been performing in plays, sketch shows, improv shows, and films for over a decade. I'm also self-conscious about how many times I've written "I". Anyway, I was an ensemble member at Under The Gun Theater for 3 years, and I'm currently a resident ensemble member at Theatre Above the Law. I've written loads of short plays and sketches, as well as the full-length plays Amicable--which premiered in the summer of 2019--and Henchpeople--the summer of 2021. I am currently producing my first screenplay--Fortified--with the company I co-founded--Fortified Productions LLC. The film is slated to shoot this summer!
There are some standout performances too, like Ross Compton’s complete commitment to the cyborg Kushner, playing it like Star Trek’s Data meets Buster from Arrested Development.
Ross Compton’s new play Amicable, now getting its world premiere at the tiny Theatre Above the Law in a cute little enclave in Rogers Park, is remarkable. It is an astonishing cautionary tale, a zen meditation and a profound experience about human existence. In this Twilight Zone/Black Mirror era it’s also an excellent piece of science fiction.

There were some brilliant raw moments—like Ross Compton's portrayal of a man's last ride to the vet with his dog and subsequent aversion to white cars...
Compton’s script has several epigrammatic nuggets of wisdom, including the so-true-it-hurts line “There’s nothing more dangerous than a rich person with hurt feelings.”
I think this was my favorite one!
